| Pain Management : |
|
Pain Management Center at Advanced Medical Care takes a comprehensive approach to the management of intractable pain. Successfully treating patients for severe and chronic pains means treating the whole patient, not just the tissue, bone, joint or muscle sending pain signals. A multidisciplinary team of specialists in fields including Anesthesiology. Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine is also available for consultation. When appropriate, a patient may meet with one of our pain management Physicians for an initial Evaluation.

In treating patients our goal is: |
To decrease the intensify and frequency of
the pain.
To decrease the use of potent analgesic drags, whenever passible.
To help patients understand the link between pain and emotional well-being. |
| |
EVALUATION symptoms consist of: |
A
history, complied through a personal interview with the patient.
Review of medical records, supplemented with data from the referring physician.
Laboratory data and radiological reports.
An examination of the organic and psycho emotional components of the pain symptoms. |

TREATMENT |
Following an evaluation, a plan of treatment
will be decided upon and discussed with the paitent and/or family
members.
All treatment procedures are done by licensed physicians who used
C-ARM for precise needle localization.
Specific treatment strategies include:
• Nerve Block, including local anesthetics that provide prompt
temporary relief without producing drowsiness; steroids, which have
ant i-inflammatory properties; and neurolytic agents (phenol, alcohol)
for patients with camcer pain.
• Spinal Cord Stimulation, which uses an implant (similar to
pacemaker) to deliver electrical impulses. This prevents the pain
signals from reaching the brain.
• Radio Frequency Treatment, which involves treating problem
pain- transmitting nerves with grounded radio frequency electrode:
in order to limit their function.
• Epdural Lysis ofAdhesions, which is used: to reduce scar tissue
that causes pain. It may be performed surgically or through the use
of dissolving enzymes, salt water irrigation or steroids.
• Influsion Pimps, which deliver medications intravenously and
provide patients with the ability to control their pain in a consistent manner.
